Project Summary
For Wynwood Mural Fest during Miami Art Week, I created a 24' x 24' mural for Galera Collective and developed a custom augmented reality (AR) animation that activated the artwork. The objective was to extend the life of the mural beyond a static visual experience by introducing a digital layer that could engage viewers and create a deeper interactive connection.

Challenge: Traditional public art is difficult to measure in terms of engagement, with little to no data on how audiences interact with the work.
Solution: A dynamic QR code system paired with a custom AR experience, allowing viewers to access the animation while also generating measurable user engagement data and analytics.

Execution
The mural was designed as both a standalone visual piece and a trigger for a digital AR experience. A custom animation was developed and deployed via a web-based AR platform, accessible through a 3D-printed QR code physically installed on the wall.
This approach allowed for seamless interaction: viewers could scan the code, launch the experience instantly on their device, and see the mural come to life in augmented reality. The use of a dynamic QR code enabled ongoing tracking and analysis of user behavior over time, transforming the mural into both an artwork and a measurable digital touchpoint.

Impact
• 24' x 24' large-scale mural installation in a high-traffic Art Basel location
• Custom AR animation integrated with the physical artwork
• 3D-printed QR code installation enabling seamless user access
• 643 total scans and 570 unique users interacting with the experience
• Measured engagement over time (Nov 2023 – Nov 2024)
• International audience reach, with users from all around the globe.
• Demonstrated a scalable model for measuring engagement in public art through AR and dynamic QR systems
